i'm not dead i swear

Hayyyyyy blog. It's been a while. First I had this animation class that I was working so hard on that I didn't really have time for anything else, like eating, or sleep. Then I had some awesome friends visiting at various points, which is always a ton of fun. And now I've been going through some ~big life changes~, namely finally finding some full time work! Yay! Now I can actually afford things, and even move out and get my own apartment. This is a pretty momentous occasion for me - I have NEVER had my own apartment! Kind of sad, huh? But I've been pretty excited about the prospect of finally moving out. I have all of these starry-eyed visions about crocheting, like, EVERYTHING for my room, and going to Ikea, and building tables like this. It's going to be awesome.

Anyway, I digress. Here's some stuff I've been working on:

1) First, that animation class! So, like three years ago I created an animatic for a short film for a class at school. I was always pretty happy with it and wanted to finish it, so I took an animation class this summer to help motivate me to work on it again. Even though I didn't get too much done in the way of show-able work, it's gotten me to a place where I feel like I can actually finish it myself.

Here's the original animatic:

Outer Space from Hannah on Vimeo.

Here's a semi-finished first shot in the ~finished~ short. It's really all I have to show at this point, and I'll have to fix it eventually because Henry kind of looks like he's made of rubber...

Untitled from Hannah on Vimeo.

I'm wary of posting anything else I have so far without getting further into the short. It's kind of on hiatus at this point until I move out and have more space to work on it, but it's one of my end of the year resolutions to finally finish it, so I'll post more as I go along.

2) My sister and I started a daily sketch blog! It's here on Tumblr for your easy following pleasure! I'll post the sketches here as well, to make it look like I do more.

Unfortunately they're only shitty Instagram photos, but you get the gist...they're basically all drawings of how I want to dress in the fall, because I like to plan ahead for these sorts of things, lulz. I like to plan ahead for everything, really. When I was little I used to play these games where I would have to prepare for a big natural disaster, or pack for a long train ride, etc...I was a weird kid. This made me think that Hurricane Irene would be much more up my alley, but it's mostly just been kind of boring.

Anyway, speaking of shitty Instagram photos, Brooklyn Vegan used one of mine for their post on the free Wavves show on Thursday! It was a really fun show. I thought the bandshell they played in looked really familiar, and I realized that I recognized it from that episode of Flight of the Conchords where Murray takes Brett on a tour of bandshells in New York...awesome. But yeah, check out the post! The only comment on it is insulting my photo, but hey, you take the good with the bad. LINK!

Well, that's pretty much it right now...I've been working more on my comic idea, mostly on the story side, but hopefully I'll have more to show for that soon! I'm starting to think that I can use this blog to branch out beyond my artistic endeavors, except, you know, who really cares? But I think there may be a revamp coming, or something...so yeah. Look out, world.

whatevzzz part 2

So here's a few more drawings from that thing I'm working on. I'm trying to get more loosey-goosey with my style so that the drawings feel more alive, or something. I feel like this project is one of those rare times where what I draw actually approximates the image I have in my head. Pretty sweet.

whatevzzzzz

Okay, guys, let's not make this awkward. I know I've been away for a while. I'm alive, home from L.A., etc. At some point I'll post some stuff from L.A., but for now, here's a drawing from a thing I'm working on:

Yeah, bye.

city of angels

Yeah, yeah, cliche title for a post about Los Angeles, I KNOW. Tomorrow I'm going off on an airplane to visit Los Angeles (aka home) for a couple of weeks. I'm really excited about this trip - I can't wait to see family and friends, and visit my favorite old haunts. Life has been pretty crazy in New York, and I'm going to use this time to get my head straight and figure out where I'm headed the rest of the year. In honor of the trip, I'm posting some of my favorite old photos of L.A. that I took on my Diana F+ camera. Enjoy!

If you want to check out more of my photography, you can go to my NOW FINISHED OFFICIAL WEBSITE!! I keep forgetting to pimp that here.

ladeeda

Some recent photos, mostly of buildings and the pretty weather.

Now that the weather is getting nicer, I'm hoping to put a spring mix together to celebrate how beautiful it is now! Coming soon! Hopefully.

this is a really volcanic ensemble you're wearing, it's really marvelous

I love Pretty in Pink. It's such a great teen movie, with all of those outsized emotions and awesome music cues and Molly Ringwald's famous pout. But my favorite part of the movie is the visuals. Especially the costumes. Oh man, if only I could have those awesome thrift-store, new wave, unabashedly girly outfits! Adore.

I'm not sure if the abstract shapes add to or detract from the sketches...meh.

weird girls

I've been drawing a lot of weird girls lately.

These are some Gothic Lolita girls; I was kind of thinking of making a zine with drawings of them.

And here are a couple of drawings of characters from a story I've been working on.

That's all for now, folks.
